World Cup 2006 has finally come to an end…It has always been hard for the France’s supporters to stomach the fact that Italy emerged champion…The France captain, Zidane was being issued red card just minutes before the game end, which made the penalty kick possible, hence leading to the victory of Italy.
Zidane was believed to have been offended by an Italian player that arouses him to attack that player using his head; hence the red card…Many France’s supporters were not only upset, but also outraged about the fact that the captain actually did such an unacceptable action. Even until now, many France supporters still detested him for his “less than 5 seconds action”.
Personally, I believe that we should hold on to our angry and keep our clam even if we are seriously hurt…. Releasing our anger by force is definitely and must not be the solution to the setback. However, settling the matter at the right time and thinking before speaking will certainly help solve the problem. We should always think of the consequences before taking actions…
The job of a leader/captain is not just to lead the group, but also to motivate and encourage the team to perform better. When a leader did something unjust or sinful, it is inevitable for its member to be emotionally and psychologically affected, hence being discouraged and disheartened to perform well. Therefore, a leader should restrict himself/herself from making unpardonable mistakes…
However, man makes mistakes… and I am certain that Zidane did that in a moment of rash. In a team, it is always “one for all…all for one” and therefore I feel that he should not be the only one shouldering all the blame…
